Wedding Stationery: What Do I Need? & Vendor Feature

Wedding stationery: more than just wedding invites. Save the dates, invitations, RSVP’s, maps, menus, thank you cards… So many things to remember! With the help of this blog (and some GORGEOUS flatlays I shot with stationery done by All Sorts Press), hopefully you can get a better handle of what you need for your own wedding!

Combination #1: Save-the-date + Wedding Invitation + Map

Save-the-dates aren’t mandatory, but they are very useful! A lot of my wedding couples have sent these out, and how cute is it seeing these on your friends’ fridges?! Send your save-the-dates around 6-8 months before your wedding, and include the following information: you & your partner’s full names, your wedding date, the city of your wedding, and that a formal invitation will follow.

Next, your wedding invitation card should be the largest in your invitation suite and should be sent around 8-12 weeks before your wedding date. Your invite will generally be as follows: first line will include who’s hosting the wedding (check Pinterest if you want to find different wording!), who’s getting married, date & time, name & address of the venue, and what date to RSVP by. If your ceremony & reception are in two different locations, be sure to include the second venue’s name & address, with something like “reception to follow”.

Maps are also not mandatory, but a very functional addition to your invitation suite! Especially if your event is located at a venue that is hard to find, or there are several locations on the property where guests will need to walk to.

Combination #2: Wedding Invitation + RSVP Card

Response cards are a cute & simple way to collect your RSVP’s. In Tim & Yara’s example, the couple’s RSVP card reminds guests to RSVP via their wedding website - a very popular option nowadays! If you’re looking to do more of a traditional RSVP card, like Nadia & Calin, it should include a reply-by date and checkboxes for “accepts with pleasure” or “declines with regret”. It’s also useful to leave a few blank lines for the names of the guests who will be attending, as well as dietary restrictions. Oh, and also don’t forget to include a stamped return envelope!

Combination #3: Wedding Invitation + Menu Card

OK - this isn’t so much a combination in itself as that’s just the combination I shot the photos with LOL!

We’ve already gone over wedding invites, so let’s chat menus. Menu cards do exactly what they sound like they’ll do (you’ve been to a restaurant, right? :’) ). Menu cards are useful & aesthetic way for showing your guests what will be served as the meal at your event. Some may include options they can choose from, while others will include the food on offer (think buffet-style).

Other Wedding Stationery to Consider

We’ve covered save-the-dates, wedding invites, maps, RSVP cards, and menu cards… Here are other stationery items to think about:

This blog couldn’t have been possible without the lovely stationery provided by All Sorts Press! I had SO much fun curating these flatlays & getting creative - super easy to do when you have beautiful things to take photos of!

Located in Hamilton, Ontario, All Sorts Press is a letterpress printing & design company specializing in producing handcrafted luxury printed matter using early-mid century printing presses.

All Sorts Press is owned by Sara Froese, and DANG does she do a PHENOMENAL job. She has several options for ordering wedding stationery. With fully custom invites, Sara works closely with you to create a one-of-a-kind invite design; things you’ll chat about include paper choice, ink colours, envelopes & finishing touches. Alternatively, if you have designed your own custom invite OR have purchased a design from your favourite graphic designer, Sara will work with you to determine the best printing methods to execute your design!

I happened upon Sara’s Instagram account a number of years ago, and I fell in love with her work. I quickly hired her to print my business cards for Arcadia Boudoir! It was extremely simple ordering from Sara, I filled out her contact form and within a few weeks had them in my hands. Her service was impeccable and the business cards… don’t get me started! Well… actually you can, any time. ;) I’ll sing her praises always!
