A Magical Mini Session at Gage Park

It’s amazing how the sessions with a little unpredictability often become the most magical. That’s exactly what happened during a summer mini session at Gage Park. The forecast was calling for rain, and I’ll admit - I was stressing a little! My clients and I arrived in our cars, watching the drizzle on the windows, and agreed: if the rain didn’t let up in 30 minutes, we’d reschedule.

But I’m SO glad we didn’t.

After a bit of waiting, we decided to just go for it - and the conditions couldn’t have been more perfect. The sky was overcast, which is actually a dream scenario for photographers. Overcast light is soft, even, and flattering - it wraps gently around the subject without creating those harsh shadows you get on sunny days. With a few fun prompts and poses, this sweet family cuddled, smiled, and just enjoyed being themselves. A little drizzle came and went, but it only added to the cozy vibe of the session.

And then… the magic happened. As we wrapped up, the drizzle picked up again - but this time, the sun broke through the clouds. The golden light illuminated the raindrops in the air, and out of nowhere, a rainbow appeared!!! I’ve never had that happen during a session before, and it honestly felt like a sign that this moment was meant to be. It was the most incredible finale to our time together, and the photos we captured are just as magical as it felt.

If you’ve been thinking about booking a mini session of your own, stay tuned - I’ll be announcing fall and Christmas minis soon! You never know what kind of unexpected beauty we might capture together.
