Top 3 Tips for Saving Yourself Stress on Your Wedding Day

Weddings are a magical celebration of love, but they can also come with a lot of stress. Planning your special day should be enjoyable, and while some stress is inevitable - let’s keep it manageable! To help you stay calm and focused, here are the top three common wedding day stressors I’ve noticed this past wedding season, and solutions for each. Let’s make your big day as smooth and joyful as possible!

Problem: How Do I Plan the Ideal Timeline for My Wedding Day?

Solution: Rely on Your Photographer or Hire a Planner

If you don’t have a wedding planner, don’t worry! Your photographer is an excellent starting point for creating a realistic timeline. With their experience, they can advise on how to get the best images in the time you have. They know when and where certain shots should happen and how to fit everything into your day seamlessly.

In my inquiry calls, I always create a rough version of the timeline (even if it’s a year or more out!) to show my couple what a possible timeline might look like. We will always check in closer to the wedding date to make sure everything is attainable and realistic.

On the other hand, if you have a more complex vision or a higher guest count, investing in a wedding planner might be worth considering. Planners can design every last detail with your vision in mind and manage everything on the day, so you don’t have to. (Check out Kimi Arya for a range of wedding coordinator services!)

Problem: Who’s in Charge of Problem Solving on My Wedding Day?

Solution: Delegate or Hire a Day-Of Coordinator

Having someone you trust to field wedding day issues is a lifesaver. Either hire a day-of coordinator (or rely on your wedding planner if you’ve got one) or designate a person from your wedding party to handle any problems. This person will ensure that all minor issues are dealt with and only come to you if absolutely necessary. This allows you to stay focused on enjoying the day rather than solving last-minute issues that may not even need your involvement!

Problem: Is My Wedding Timeline Leaving Any Room to Breathe?

Solution: Build in “Me Time” and/or Check-Ins

It’s easy to get swept up in the excitement and forget to take a breather - your wedding day will be such a whirlwind, it may feel like you blink and hours have gone by! Because of this phenomenon, make sure your timeline includes moments for you to recharge. These can be “me time” breaks where a friend or wedding party member checks in to make sure you’ve eaten, are hydrated, and are feeling good. Weddings are full of adrenaline, but skipping (or forgetting, let’s be honest) food or water can heighten stress. By planning these small breaks or having someone check in on you, you can enjoy your celebration to the fullest while avoiding unnecessary overwhelm.

By addressing these stressors ahead of time, you’ll be ready to fully savour each special moment. Stay calm, rely on your support team, and embrace every beautiful part of your big day.
